Dropship vs stock: which is right for selling beds?

By the Flair Trade team · Last reviewed 30 October 2026

Short answer: Dropship if you want to sell a wide bed range online without a warehouse or stock risk: you take the order and Flair delivers to your customer, next working day on in-stock lines ordered before 12pm. Hold stock if you need display pieces, same-day collection or your own delivery. Many retailers do both: stock fast movers and dropship the long tail.

Key facts

  • No minimum order for dropship or collection.
  • 940+ next-day dropship lines.
  • Dropship charge per item is shown in your basket before you order.
  • Live stock feed every 15 minutes to stop overselling.

How Flair dropship works

  1. Your customer orders from you, at your price.
  2. You order from us online, by SKU or CSV quick order, by phone or email, with their address.
  3. In-stock items ordered before 12pm are dispatched for next working day delivery to most UK mainland postcodes.
  4. Track the delivery in your account and keep your customer informed.

Working out your margin

Your landed cost on a dropship order is the trade price ex VAT plus the dropship charge per item shown in your basket. Your trade account shows trade price, RRP and margin on every product, so you can price listings with the delivery charge included. Private stock feeds can also apply a markup or RRP-based price for you. See stock feeds.

When holding stock makes sense

  • You have a showroom and need display pieces.
  • Your customers want to take items away the same day.
  • You run your own delivery vans.
  • You sell high volumes of a few lines.

Collection from our Liversedge warehouse is free with no minimum order, and store delivery is available with an area-based minimum.

A hybrid model

Stock your fast movers and display pieces, and dropship everything else from next-day dropship lines. Use the live stock feed to hide anything that goes out of stock.
